F1 European Grand Prix 24th August 2008
This exciting new venue Grand Prix venue is going to be a hot favourite for 2008. Valencia was put 'on the map' by the America's Cup sailing event during 2007. If there was ever a city deserving a F1 Grand Prix - it is Valencia - the new Port area is almost designed to be a race circuit. This Street race is rightly being promoted as the new 'Monaco'. The potential is there - Valencia offers everything you will need for a truly excellent weekend of racing. The actual race track is around the America's Cup area in the Port/marina area which is located about 2 miles from the historic centre and the 19th century 'New City. Our handpicked and personally inspected hotels are all located walking distance of the historic area. This is where you find the most fashionable eateries and bars and it's great for shopping too.
There is a metro and tram system in the city and the connections down to the Port area should be up and running in time for the Grand Prix. Alternatively there is a bus network and taxis are plentiful and cheap.
The circuit will have 14 left-hand turns and 11 right-handers. It accommodates 100,000 spectators and will use some of the facilities built for the 2007 America’s Cup. Our short visit here in late Autumn 2007 has convinced us that the F1 GP in Valencia is going to be the hottest ticket around. Our friends at The Amber Lounge are convinced of this too and will be hosting their glitzy all-night events over the three nights of the Grand Prix weekend. This one could rival Monaco as the party Grand Prix!
